to tell you the truth you don't really need or want to use any colored wax on shell cordovan. I have used the Alden black wax paste on both my black and #8 shell shoes but only on very obvious scuffs which I later found out that I could have covered up without wax. Almost all superficial scuffs can be buffed out with a clean horsehair brush after a few minutes. If you want shiny shoes - use Crema Nubiana (can be bought from Franco's clothing) as per instructions in the box. If you want less shiny shoes then I would avoid wax and just brush them lightly before and after every wear. And be sure to have a shoe brush that you use exclusively for shell shoes. Brushes tend to pick up wax and other products over time and if you use this on your shell shoes, it may dull them.

If this is your first polish - I would recommend the Alden of Carmel's 3x polish technique for shell shoes using Alden black wax paste.

Is this something common with the flex sole? I'm considering exchanging if I can. Otherwise I love the shoe though.

I purchased a pair of tan flex welt suede chukkas (2nds) from The Shoemart and had the same issue with one of the shoes. I sent them back to The Shoemart and asked them to try to fix it (I speculated that it was a loose shank). The repaired them and sent back to me in a few days. Clicking is gone (we'll see how they hold up).

I don't think they're available anywhere, but cap-toe boots in brown grained leather with a crepe sole.

Can someone recommend me an alternative to Context's Roy Boot?
It's so simple and elegant but I'm not sure if I can wait that long!
Need a plain toe... thanks

Anybody know who has the best price / available coupon codes for Indy's? Shoemart doesn't allow codes to be used on Alden and I couldn't find any for shermanbrothers. I'm in Japan so I'm either looking for a place with good shipping or one in the US so I can have it shipped to my family who can then ship it as a gift.

although they have lots of similarities, I consider the Roy boots much more casual than the cordovan PTB from Leathersoul

i have these as well -- they are great -- for the extra $$ you get cordovan that just gets better and better over time... Leather Soul is great to work with too.
