I just purchased a pair of C&J from Pediwear. I didn't buy the shoe trees from them. Should I have bought C&J shoe trees or any high quality tree work??

C&J trees sold on pediwear etc. are not lasted - they are not made for specific shoe shapes. I have read that their trees are pretty good if you have shoes on the 337 last. You could try calling them and see if they make specific lasted trees.

Not lasted but do a fair job filling the 337. OCD types will want them and Pediwear had the best price when I bought (guilty).

While the 'standard' C&J tree fits the 337 reasonably well, remember that there are also 'lasted' trees available from C&J which are based on the 358 AND 337 (i.e. a hybrid last - I know, very peculiar). The 'lasted' trees have 2 connectors between the front and rear pieces, unlike the 'standard' ones which only have 1 connector between front and back.

Yes, I saw those at the Turnbull store last week. They looked really nice, but the going rate was over $200 for a pair of those premium trees.

...which apparently don't even fit the 337 OR 358 lasts that well! One wonders sometimes, what the people at C&J are thinking...

What about the most famous C&J last of all...anything for that? I'm just using standard split GVH trees. Will my 348s hate me?

The lasted trees are OK, but as I've mentioned before I just don't think they're deep enough. C&J definately missed a trick here imo

Which one would that be?

I think he is referring to the 348.

They're going out of business, so I don't know if they are still available (or who actually makes them), but the shoe trees I bought at Sym's fit my Cliffords (337 last) like they were made for them.
