WWChan/Jantzen orders - customs duty?

To those of you that have ordered from either of these companies in Hong Kong and live in North America, were you dinged with customs duties when your order was shipped to you?

Here in Canada, clothing that is not made in North America and covered under NAFTA gets assessed 17-18% duty. Is there something similar in the US?

I live in the US and didn't get charged custom duties on m Jantzen shirt. Ricky marked the value at $8, and as a gift.

As I understand it, the customs duties are included in the initial price for orders taken in the USA for Chan. Can't speak for Jantzen.

I have paid duties on shoes and other leather goods here in Japan, but never on Jantzen shirts.

True. All customs and shipping charges were included in the Chan price.

I'm often amused by the creativity of some merchants in filling out the declaration. The latest example: a Brooks Bros. pima sweater-vest from Toronto; the customs label said "fishing loors".
