Drag racing. I took a 1992 Eagle Talon and made it run 12.0 in the 1/4 mile on street tires before my 20th birthday. Had to sell it when I moved to the big city, working on cars is a good hobby. Problem is it's just as expensive a hobby as clothes, if not more at times, and you usally hate the car whenever it doesn't do exactly what you want. But I loved it for 12 seconds at a time more than I've ever enjoyed much else.

For reference this is about as quick as 911 Turbo, Z06, 575 Maranello and Lamborghini Gallardo.

I have enjoyed high end audio as a hobby for some 24 years. I like it since I love music and the technology and sound gets better every month...lots to learn in this hobby so it is hard to be bored.

Lately I've been finding myself in a situation where I don't have enough hobbies to occupy my free time. When I was younger, I was passionate about motorcycles and jiu jitsu. I used to train three times per week and go dirtbiking in the mountains where I lived twice a week.

After I started university, I had to give up those hobbies. I can't train martial arts anymore because of a chronic wrist problem I have that developed from riding and falling incorrectly in jiu jitsu class. I had to sell my dirtbike because I moved away for school and could no longer afford it.

I'm not in school anymore and I'm now living in Bogota, Colombia for work. I'm having troubles finding worthwhile hobbies and was hoping that some people could give me some suggestions.

One thing I am doing right now is taking dance lessons. I really enjoy that but it's only a couple times a week and I want to pick up another hobby or two. My only other hobby is photography. I have a fairly nice digital SLR and I take quite a few pictures. It's not the best hobby for Bogota though since it's quite dangerous to be walking around with over $1,000 in camera equipment.

Any suggestions?

You don't have to carry around a big SLR. Get a small leica or something that you can put in your pocket if you enjoy photography.

Loner hobbies I know but I'm lucky enough to have friends with similar tastes.
