Nothing fishy about them. They look like the Darby boot from the Gentlemens Collection a few years ago.

I'm not sure anyone would go to the trouble to make fake Wolverine 1000 but does these look slightly off? Mainly thinking about the ankle area.
I quite like the look of these. I prefer that the stitching isn't white on the leather parts. I may use this photo to have a pair made like these.

Can't you just dye the stitching on a regular pair?

I'm not sure, but my experience with dyeing jeans shows that dye doesn't stick to non-cotton, synthetic stitching, which I assume they use based on what Saddleback uses for their leatherwork. Also, every shoe I've owned with frayed stitching seems to have synthetic stitching because a flame will shrink the fray.

I would just like to protect my investment as I am a graduate student and want these to last all 8 years I'm up here in the north.

How necessary is the polishing? I had a bunch of stuff I left at home, but I forgot to bring it with me. Can it wait 2 months before getting polished?

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with some information on this pair of boots? They seem quite different to most 1000 miles I've seen. Especially the lack of metal eyelets or speed hooks.
