OK wingtips in general are really boring/plain and ugly looking. Just like all the ones posted above... NO OFFENSE guys!.

But these are pretty damn sexy. I have a pair myself.

Much more stylish but still formal.

I disagree on the formality. Wingtips are traditionally less formal than bluchers or oxfords, so the suede, thin soles, and last shape of those shoes make it much more casual. They do look nice though. How is the quality on them? Last time I was in paul smith I found the quality of their leather questionable but the suede may be a non issue. Are they welted?

OP, how do you feel about austerity brogues? That may be a good middle ground to for interesting wingtips.

Hi, do you have a fashion forward style? AE/Alden/EG are pretty conservative styling whereas Ferragamo's are more fashion forward. Your statements being "bored" of AE makes it sound you may like Sutor Mantellasi, Carmina, or Santoni. Not sure if that's what you are looking for though. The Alden's in plaza last look nice and not boring imo.

Probably not fashion forward being that I work around the exec management of a bank, and fashion forward is not well liked in banking. I have ferragamo loafers and feel like an idiot wearing them to work. I am just bored of AE as I would like to try a different shoe., meaning maybe something fits better, or I just like better in general.

It's possible to get anything on sale but if you have to worry about the price then they're out of your class. Forget the dorky looking wingtips because no elite man wears them these days. Theonly place you'll see them is in GQ mag or on cubicle working drones. But if you really must buy these clutzy looking eyesores than I'd suggest that you get a slip on model or the lightest possible one made by Bally or Ferrigamo.

That is nonsensical. Price does not matter? Since when does price not matter? Facebook has tons of money, they should have paid 10 billion for instagram. Who cares about price right................... ?Seriously, I can't even imagine you make any money, not a single person I know that makes over a million a year thinks like that.

I'm sorry, but...what? Your entire post makes no sense at all.

It also reeks of extreme arrogance, and a strange fascination with an idealised elite.

I really like those pairs of Paul smith shoes. I'm not sure about the overall quality of PS leather but since these were suede i didn't think there would be much of a problem. They are good quality shoes.

I also really like NDC made by hand. They make really stylish, high quality, and good looking shoes.

I want to buy a pair of wingtips. I only wear my shoes to work, and have 3 pairs of AE and some ferragamo loafers. I would like to get something different as I am sick of AE's. Is Alden the next step? Is it possible to get Alden's on sale like AE? I am thinking of some black wingtips from alden, in either calf, or cordovan. Should I spend the extra money on cordovan? Since these are just black shoes, is it even worth upgrading to alden than ae? I like AE fine, but I feel like I need to try a different brand at least.

None. Get a plain black slipon

Not to be too harsh, but I would suggest shutting up. Everything I've seen you post is moronic, and you should either be quiet and be willing to learn from the many experts around here, or leave.

Not 100% mutually exclusive but for the sake for discussion "wingtips" have the full broguing and winged toe cap, whereas the "bluchers/oxfords" are more plain but can vary in designs. The majority of wingtips i have seen have the blucher style upper but once in a while there are closed like oxfords. Sure you have the in between stuff like medallion toe cap, punch caps, austerity brogues, half brogue, etc. etc. but the term wingtip is pretty specific imo.

the wingtip is the distinguishing feature of a full-brogue, which can be had either as derby/blucher or bal/oxford. the choice depends on personal preference and fit.

my suggestion, RL Darlton short wing blucher (Cordovan shell by C&J)...
http://www.styleforum.net/t/268417/...arlton-gifford-garran-lindrick-mccallum-rhett

These are my favorite wingtips, but they are very casual shoes and probably not appropriate for work at a bank. Wingtips are inherently casual shoes by virtue of their broguing, so for work at a bank, I would look for a sleek, balmoral wingitp, since bals are more formal than bluchers. You might also like an austerity brogue (no punching, just stitching in the wingtip design; As a general rule, the more broguing, the more casual the shoes).
