With a charcoal glen plain suit, what's the more versatile subtle windowpane color--blue/navy or purple? Any experiences with which color works best with charcoal, and with the shoe and tie color options that tend to work best with charcoal?

I'd go with medium-light blue. Navy will be almost invisible on charcoal. I have a purple windowpane on a black and white Glen Urquhart from Ralph Lauren, though I don't think purple would work as well on a darker plaid. Light blue is what I typically see on a charcoal glen plaid and it usually looks best.

Thanks. I tried unsuccessfully to attach a picture of the RL blue windowpane swatch; it is a medium blue, and does look great against the charcoal. But I tend to wear burgundy shoes and ties with charcoal, and thought those might work well with a subtle purple windowpane.

I like a light blue, purple, or rust color windowpane on glen plaid. I have an interesting rain coat that is dark grey glen plaid with blue horizontal and red vertical lines.

light - medium blue or purple works best. Navy would not show on charcoal unless really close up. A Navy windowpane would look best on blue background or other lighter colors.
