Which Hair Products Are Best For Longer/Thick Hair?

I have tried so many hairstyling products from so many different companies that it is getting silly now, but I have yet to come across my holy grail product - because it seems that most products are for shorter or thinner/fine hair and I just can't find the right product for me.

My hair length is about to my ears, heavy, wavy and very thick (like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 2). I just can't find the right balance in a product. Either it won't provide much hold or it will be hard as a rock. I would like a natural looking strong hold with texture that can withstand the length and the weight of the hair - but not feel like I put glue in my hair as I also tend to put my hands through my hair a few times during the day.

Generally speaking - which format of products are not for longer/thicker hair:

Pomade
Gel
Wax
Cream
Gum
Clay
Paste

I was going to try the AC Tea Tree Paste and Redken Concrete - would these be suitable? I would greatly appreciate hearing any product recommendations.

Thanks a million!

i've got really coarse, thick hair. it's fairly straight but right now it's long. i use kms hairplay molding paste and it works great if i piece it correctly. also i wait until my hair's fairly dry post-shower to apply it. i think there's another product called rice wax or something (not sticky rice) that's supposed to work better for my hair type but it's been fine for me.

I'll second the KMS Hairplay if you want a matte finish, definitely use it on damp hair though. If you want more shine maybe the American Crew pomade.
