Where do you wear your tuxedo?

Just curious because I realized as I dressed in black tie recently, that I really enjoy wearing a tuxedo. I like the look, the feel, the formality... I am looking for more excuses to wear my get-up.

Where do you all wear yours, beyond the usual weddings, etc?

I've posted before that I'd like to wear one out to dinner; probably in stealth mode but maybe not.

I have a mediocre tuxedo, so I only wear it when absolutely necessary. I think the tux is too specific a garment to be worn just for the hell of it these days. So if you want to wear it more, become a patron of the arts.

Speaking of which, I was at the Met on Saturday. We were in the orchestra, great seats (a gift). I saw two men in the whole house wearing tuxedos.

That's kind of my point. People used to wear them to the Opera, or the Philharmonic. These days, the only time I hear about people getting tuxed up is for the odd black tie wedding, or black tie corporate event, both of which are becoming less and less frequent.

Operas, opening nights at the symphony and the odd black tie affair. Less than ten times this past year.

I wore mine recently to a black tie affair sponsored by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Other than black tie business or society affairs, never.

That being said, I was laughing because the Florsheim Monarch shoes that I bought from Bennies (Chris - Nightowl) had a tag saying they were "airport friendly". I told my wife, "this will be good if I ever become a secret agent and have to take a flight while wearing my tuxedo"

Charity events. Many, if not most, charities have annual fundraisers which are black tie events.

There aren't many events I get to wheel the DJ out for... sometimes I manage myself invited to some of the college balls and of course, there are occasional other events - event dinners, etc. But it's rare, sadly, these days.
