Where is the dinner going to be held? I would think that would be the more important consideration.

What the Moo said.

Oh, and I agree with the guys that said only a member of this forum would tell you to go to a bird's birthday party wearing a bow tie.

I also have the light blue gingham in a navy, but I'm wearing it atm

Note that the navy and grey in the first pic are linen

Does the left shutter swing open okay? I can see it being blocked by the bath fittings.

Oh and I agree, ditch the vest and tie and wear one of the darker patterned blue shirts. Ie blue/navy stripe or gingham.

Nah, they both open fine. I think the picture is just oddly distorted.

I think I'll go w/ the gingham. It's a bit lighter and it's supposed to be a nice night

Go for the gingham shirt with no tie. However, if you insist on having a tie, go with the white dress shirt bow tie.

wear the darker gingham shirt.
i kind of like the bowtie personally.
and if it's not your usual, she might appreciate you trying to spruce it up a bit.
it's all in how you carry yourself imo.
not so much what, you wear, but how you wear it.
if that makes any sense at all.
