What to wear if I *need* to wear socks and shorts

Hey everyone.

This is my first time posting. I’ve read a lot of great tips and ideas over the years and, now, I need some ideas myself.
I’m curious to hear some what kind of shoes/socks/shorts combinations you guys wear when walking around somewhere hot and humid.

It’s a unique situation for me. I’m visiting a friend in Tokyo next month – the most hot and humid month of the year. Usually, I just wear my boat shoes, burks or loafers in this weather. I don’t even wear shorts very often - I live in Oregon. However, I’m definitely taking my shorts and my friends and I are visiting a lot of people, places and restaurants that require taking off your shoes. I’m a little a self-conscious about pulling my sweaty feet out of some leather shoes after walking around the hot, humid streets for hours.

Of course, I’m taking my sneakers and Sperrys with no-show and loafer socks (I’ve realized that all my summer clothes were bought with only boats shoes in mind). Regardless, the airline says I can bring two luggage bags. I figure I might mix it up a little. I would love to hear what else people out there would wear in this situation. Casual Oxfords? Bucks? How comfortable are those looks?

Thanks in advance! I look forward to hearing any suggestions.
