I agree you can connect that attitude to any gift, but I think the implied assumption is that if you just give a wad of cash, you aren't putting much (if any) actual thought into the gift. But at the same time, this is a UPS worker we're talking about, not your girlfriend.

Just give them cards. No cash, no gift certificate, no knick-knack. Just a handwritten thank-you card or something.
