Yeah, and it's not like those guys have some sort of consistent running bias. I used to read that mag heavily, but stopped when some freinds and I noticed that they tend to under rate Cuban stuff and over rate Dominican stuff.

Scenery in DR? I must have been unfortunate to be in one of those touristy places devoid of any scenery other than couple of dusty palm trees and construction sites (Punta Cana , Porta Plata).
Cuban Cigars in DR are real and sold at Canadian prices (not cheap). Cigars could be had on higher end resorts. It is very easy to spot one of those resorts: Look for black men with shotguns guarding the entrance.
Do not forget to buy Cortisone tablets. They help a lot from terrible skin rash that jelly-fish larvae produce.
Women in DR are as exciting as scenery, but I must have been just unlucky.
I would not go to DR second time if they pay me.
But then again I am in minority who think that Aruba is boring, flat island which is not worth visiting.

Yea lets just say I had my dad blindly try 5 cigars:
1 cheapie for control
1 OpusX
1 Ghurka Legend (rated highest of group 95)
1 Trinidad y Reyes DR
1 Trinidad Reyes CUBA

He went through all of them and picked the Cuban as his favorite. Funny thing is that he couldnt finish the Ghurka, said it was nasty. CA has ratings that are almost usless.

Sorry to hear it wasn;'t to your taste. I go there 1-2 times a year with my family and stay in an all-inclusive resort, usually in Punta Cana, La Romana or Puerto Plata. Went once to Juan Dolio, in San Pedro de Marcoris, but didn't like it so much. I find the resorts on the East Coast fabulous.

My memory just randomly spited out this name: Iberostar Punta Cana.
That is all I remember. No complains about the resort itself or the service local people provide. But the place is boring; beach was void of any eye candy, except my gf. and sea was not clean. Besides laying on the beach and reading there was nothing to do. My eye could not find anything to admire or gaze upon. Complete borrrrrredome with a lot of food.
