What colour tie to wear with my new suit?

I just got a tailored-fit blue French Connection 2 piece and a light blue gingham double-cuff shirt to go with it, but I only have black and red ties and I don't think either go well.

I was thinking a spotted slim gold tie, but can't find any slim gold ties anywhere. As a short guy with a tailored-fit suit I can't really wear a classic/thick tie.

Any suggestions?

ter1413 is absolutely correct, your complexion would make a big difference. What is wrong with the ties suggested on the web site?
