Picked up these lightly worn Grenson Glenn boots on ebay. Despite being a G fitting, with the addition of an insole, they are a great fit, and very comfortable.
Just can't really figure out what trousers they go best with.

They are the original calf version. I'm lusting pretty hard over the Skye 2s, though. The dainite soles and that brown shell are calling to me.

I'm new to this forum so forgive me if similar questions have been asked before. Anyway, I'll continue -

I'm looking for some new boots with a price limit of £250, the links below are the ones I'm currently considering. Ideally I'd like a dark brown rather than tan and a leather sole (as detailed below).

The "dream" pair of boots would be these - http://25.media.tumblr.com/5d1bd5b797e3760b56f93b82976ac0f2/tumblr_n196b3Otpm1qa2j8co2_1280.jpg but they are well out of my budget. So if anyone has some suggestions within my price range or can provider some insight into the below that would be great.

http://www.grenson.co.uk/en_gb/shop/sharp-189 Would prefer a darker colour but love the style and the soles are important as I always get segs fitted to make sure I don't wear down one side. Don't want to get rubber soles when I'm dropping £200+ on some boots for me to ruin them inside 6 months.

Also these - http://www.edwardsofmanchester.co.uk/lo ... ogany.html Prefer the colour but not sure on the brand.

That should give you an idea of what I'm after so any suggestions would be awesome. Can't find anything else in the UK, brooks brothers do some amazing boots but are priced at like $600, would like to keep it at around £250 if at all possible.

Also, Meermin have these - http://www.meermin.es/ficha_articulo.php?id=4080 not a huge fan, quite like them but obviously when you are spending around the £200 mark you should love them as they need to be something you'll wear loads. Not sure if that's the case, mainly due to the colour and style.

While I'm here, I've got some meermin shoes which I've worn 4 or 5 times and already have a rip in them. Anyone had a similar experience? I've emailed them and I'm awaiting a response. Obviously I can get them repaired but it's a bit disappointing.

Thanks very much.

Augustus, a similar pair to that fourth pair that you posted - the Meermin - might be the Alfred Sargent Culford (on their 89 last) or the Alfred Sargent Cambridge (on their 87 last). The 89 last comes up a good shade generous in my experience of the Culford boots - I would suggest it is designed for thick country socks.

Your second link is cut short, but I presume it was for the Loake Bedale in mahogany? Loake 1880 range are reasonable however I haven't ever been entirely convinced.

If you are in the UK, they are easy to try for size - the Pennine last is used in a number of models. For me I found it had a fair bit of volume in the instep, and so regarding sizing you may be able to go a half down on your 'regular' fit dress or formal shoe size. Again, it's meant for thick socks though, it isn't a dress boot by any stretch.

I do not like the new Grenson 'G Two' range, the leather seems particularly poor to me. Well, they are made in India. That said, the 201 last is a very comfortable fit in my experience of their Archie brogue.

Alternatives...? Loake Dovedale or Barker Lambourne perhaps ... or if you find another wad of cash, something from Crockett and Jones.

Check out Pediwear of Halifax, great people at the shop.
