Only changing the length isn't necessarily the answer, as he says it is already the right length for when worn without a waistcoat, but needs to be tied shorter when worn with the waistcoat. You could make the tie shorter, and just have the narrow end rather short when worn without a waistcoat, and/or you can modify the shape of the tie for shorter tying as described above.

I have done this on occasion as a 5'6 guy. Cheap tie, nice tie, they all look like **** if they're hanging in front of your crotch. You're nearly 6 feet- I'm sure there's a way you could be tying it shorter. Try a few other knots- pratt, double four in hand, even go up to a half windsor. I have trouble believing that your ties are all too long at your height.

I have a few ties that could stand to be a few inches shorter, and I'm 5'9". I usually have to tuck in the narrow end.

Try a shorter tie, or just tying a diffrent knot that will allow you to keep the tie at a proper lenght when finished.

Might be overkill but you could use a tie bar to keep your tie in place. Depending on the gorge of your waistcoat, it might be best not to have the tie bar showing (might look too busy).

thicker woven ties tend to stay in place but wearing the waistcoat snugly on your body should also keep the tie from riding down.
