Visit to a small shoemaking atelier

A friend and I visited a small shoemaking atelier in Italy. It was a three man operation who makes bespoke shoes for a famous Milanese store, and also for a few clients.
His styles tend to be more conservative, but can make anything the client wants.
The studio is really really tiny, full of old bespoke samples (evidenced by the dust!), rolls of leathers which date back a few decades. Some of the leathers were inherited from the workshop of Sign. Orio, one of the giants of Italian bespoke shoes. I placed an order for a casual boot in zebu leather and will have a fitting soon.

Thanks for the pictures!

Yeah, they were leather 'slippers' but more for outdoor use, such as in the garden, etc....

Some great-looking boots and shoes there!

I am curious about your specifying "zebu leather." Zebu are just a breed of cattle, right? Do their hides have any properties that differentiate them from other cattle.? (On looking into the matter, I see that some taxonomists do regard them as a separate species, "Bos Indicus," while others do consider them simply a breed of cattle, as I thought.)

That's what I love about Europe, all these little artisan shops scattered everywhere.

So depressing living in Canada.
