Vintage-style Suit: Go MTM or Bespoke?

Hi everyone,

I am interested in buying a brand new 80s Giorgio Armani-style suit. I find their style to flatter my body and is my sense of style. I already own two of these suits, which I got tailored.

Now, I'm unsure if the route to own a "replica" of the suit requires that I go MTM or Bespoke. On one hand, I think MTM is possible because the suit design and measurements are already there, however, most MTM companies work with preset styles. Going Bespoke can also work, I have the budget and time to get one, but at the same time, I prefer to save time and money. I'm not concerned about the fit of the suit (I prefer mine roomier), it's just about the suit design.

In the meantime, I keep scouring goodwill, ebay, poshmark etc. for second-hand suits, but of course, it would be very nice to own a brand-new suit.

What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Unless you find a place with a similar style for MTM (possibly Scott Fraser Collection?) I think bespoke is going to be your only option. If I was looking for that style though I might just troll eBay for new old stock (NOS) Giorgio Armani and get it tailored. My understanding is that it’s not particularly shaped or fitted, which to me limits the benefits of bespoke. Also, in my experience, your first bespoke commission will expose some things to you that you haven’t considered and would want changed, so you probably won’t nail it until at least your second.

Luxire can duplicate the style and measurements exactly if you send it to them and will make your new suit in any fabric they source.
