You know what, this is now my best fitting Viberg last. If I could get an unstructured toe one, it would be perfect.

How would you compare it to the 2020/2030/1035 lasts? I’ve been curious about trying one of the unstructured 2040 chukkas from DR, but have been unsure about the fit.

I don't have 1035, but it's roomier in the toe than 2030 or 2020 and a bit more fitted at the waist/instep. Also has a bit of arch support too.

2040 would be perfect for me if the instep weren't so tight. The toebox, waist and heel are spot on for me but I get a fair amount of soreness across the instep. I may need to try it .5 up at some point

Thanks that’s very helpful. I do think the 2040 last would work pretty well for my feet (I have skinny ankles/heels with a lower instep), so I may have to pull the trigger on those chukkas.

2040 to me seems to have similar proportions on foot as 2020, just with a bit more volume. I have a similarly good fit in both, but I like to wear heavier socks with 2040. The fit on my chukkas is less secure than my boondockers (both 2040), probably due to the lacing.

I do wear my normal boot socks in 2040 and need to go down to thin socks in 2020 (if same size, I have 2020 in two different sizes.) So I can concur with ajd here. Munson is anatomical last isn't it?

I'm still waiting for that 2020E you promised me Viberg....

Yeah, the way I like to think about lasts like 2020, Vass P2, and Alden Modified is that someone started with a Munson last, narrowed it all over, and then put a point on the toe to make it not so boot-y.
