I'd personally love a pair of those oxfords as I like that chunkier aesthetic to them that pairs well with a lot of Japanese clothing. I'd jump on another MTO if it were to happen. The Japanese pricing is also close to viberg shell prices even if I could proxy them.
I love both the half Japanese and the Sinister Oxford.

IMHO, the Sinister looks great with my black Big John regular straight denim.

The loose fit and bigger leg opening just fit together so well with the Sinisters.

The lace to toe Oxford model is called the 245, not the 145, for future reference. I bought a pair at the sample sale.

I'd be down for an Oxford as well since I've regretted not getting in on the last two Oxford GTMOs.

I like those 245s - Japan only as far as I know. That's a nice haul Bryan. If I had known that that those were going to be at the at the sample sale, I would have come up. I've missed the last 2 NYC sales. I almost caught a flight up for the last one, but the one I went to last time was a load of 2030 boots and derbies and not that much that caught my interest. Still had 2 killer nights at the Blue Note, which was worth the trip. I'll be up for the next one. Let's hang.

Yes, next year for sure. As you know, the sale is hit or miss. Last year (2016), there were loads of 1035 derbies and service boots in my size at least. Very little on the 2045 or 110.

This year, there was a fair number of 2030 boots and 1035 (?) derbies, but also quite a few engineer boots and a few samples of the Chelseas and slippers. I found some interesting things in my size, including the two I showed above (pictures next to the 245 lace to toe derbies is a pair of mocha oil tan 2045 service boots on a corded sole).

This year I passed on waiting on the line and went later in the day when I could just walk in. I missed out possibly on some shell boots, but I found a good selection without killing hours on line.

Got me some "crust" to go with my Context horsebutt.

Steve

It would be great if you post some pics after delivery. The crust horsehide looks like a really interesting leather. The hides they used looked so small from the pic they showed on their journal. It's really cool to see the continued development of unique leathers.

@mogili222 you are much more forgiving man than I am.
I would never choose those derbies, that scar is huge, and takes all the attention away from what interests my eyes when looking at shell cordovan. It is interesting to see once, poor horse...

These are from the sample sale.. the scar is probably the reason they were included in the sale.. doesn't bother me as it is just that, a scarring and it is on the inside.. should even out with wear once the leather darkens...

I think it's cool. Adds to the character of the boot. Nice pickup.
