Nice. Wore mine again yesterday. No orange pants this time, though.

It's so soft that it probably needs the structure, and might velcro to socks if it it wasn't. Speculating of course.

yeah the gusseted tongue isn’t lined. It’s smooth side in, so it wouldn’t Velcro to socks. But it’s so supple you’d essentially be wearing leather socks. I wouldn’t want them if they were unlined, that’s for sure. But with the lining they’re hands down the most comfortable Viberg I own.

Edit to add some comparison pictures of lined kudu to unlined cxl roughout and another comparing both unlined tongues (kudu is thicker but way more supple). The lining is definitely in place to give the boot some minimal structure.

Paper or plastic? Or in this case rawhide vs. waxed laces or brown vs black rawhide.

I tend towards putting natural rawhide laces into any shoes with eyelets that will fit them. But I can’t decide which laces to use on these two pairs. Part of me thinks the “newness” of the rawhide laces isn’t helping them in the looks department here.

would love to hear other’s opinions.

I go with brown waxed laces for my natty RO boondockers and black laces for my anthracites.

The only laces I ever use for any boot I own are either Viberg issued laces or those chunky rawhides from the pnw brands. I think you can’t go wrong here.. you’re already winning
