I want to see more of that Horween Essex base workshoe butt. A veg tanned version of what we’ve see of the crust used on that Context Cloting and Himel makeups would be sweet
I'm sure we'll see more, but probably after the Dark Rubber Dublin has been delivered.

So I think I got really lucky with this last Black CXL pair from Snake Oil Provisions. It appears to be dyed all the way through on both sides of the hide View attachment 1623444 View attachment 1623445 View attachment 1623446
Black CXL is either struckthrough "grey core" or its top dyed "teacore". It only comes two ways. What you're holding is the stock black CXL service boot which a lot of retailers carry.

EDIT: actually looking at S&S they're version is teacore, so they may have changed over at some point.

yeah I’ve typically only seen top black dyed CXL from stockists and Viberg’s site.

The .com one seems to be struckthrough now: https://viberg.com/products/service-boot-horween-black-chromexcel
I know SLF has had both teacore and struckthrough for their 1035 version. The BCC captoe one is teacore, but the 3sixteen one is struckthrough.

ooh yeah you’re right. That must have been recently. I remember that 3sixteen one, the Stealth boot I think they called it. Tbh I wasn’t expecting this and was going for teacore so I could get the boot similar to the pics below, but a dyed through is an equally pleasant surprise.

heavily patina'd BCC SBs will always be a thing of beauty, but you'll still be able to beat the hell out of those struck through ones

Also, this particular black CXL model I purchased appears to be a legacy 2030, since it has the old sock liner/heel pad. It was also their last in stock and I was able to use a discount code on it

From SOP right? They may have ordered it in as struck through specifically. That's the kind of thing they'd do.
