why is Shinki horse butt so exciting in your opinions? The texture looks absolutely insane imo

UNIFORM LA CHILLICOTHE WORK JACKET Drop, going on right now.
Uniform LA's Chillicothe Work Jacket is an elevated take on the classic Detroit Work Jacket. Made of ultra-premium 14-ounce Japanese canvas, it has been meticulously washed and hand distressed to replicate vintage workwear that’s been worn for years, and available in three colors.
This just dropped today. If you missed out on the preorder, there are some sizes left, but they won't be around for long. Check out the remaining stock here
Good luck!.

everything u need -Okay I'm sure this has been asked and answered 100 times…but differences between 2020 and 2030? Photos – especially from overhead – would be very helpful.
Hope everyone's hanging in there…
Its also very different aesthetic from the horse leathers provided domestically, it feels closer to a dress calf leather. Its also neat in the aspect that its full vegetable tanned.I feel like you just answered your own question

I didn't realize Chromepak in particular was bad for the environment, more than other chrome tanned leathers. On that note, this is relevant to something that crossed my mind recently. Viberg stated that they are changing some of their materials in order to use more natural products (leather toe puff, wooden shanks). While I prefer steel shanks for longevity - I respect taking a stand on this.
But then they recently released their first chromepak boot in years. Chromepak is a notable step in the opposite direction of their stated intent - a less natural tanning process that is godawful for the environment. I've heard Horween say they aren't doing it much anymore for exactly that reason.
All this to say, the stated intent of using natural materials rings a bit hollow when it's inconsistently applied.
/rant
Also maybe this rant is really just because want steel shanks back and toe puffs in plain toes that don't look like phantom cap toes.
The leather toe puffs are a hair thicker for sure, the toe caps on the most recent chromepaks look very truman esque. On that note, this is relevant to something that crossed my mind recently. Do wooden shanks break often? I know that most of the UK makers us them as does Viberg on their naildown construction work boots but I’ve never see anything about the shanks breaking in the Tricker’s or C&J threads.

Wooden shank durability is somewhat of an issue IIRC from what DWF has said in the past. Can be replaced during a resole if need be.
I don’t really get the excitement over Chromepak since it’s a full chrome tannage and nothing special. It’s also not hard to work with.

Seems like Viberg uses the wooden shanks on naildown work boots since naildown construction is notoriously stiff. Obviously metal shanks are more durable overall though. My JM Weston’s use wooden shanks and I have no complaints thus far. I’d prefer metal shanks and leather toe puffs.
