Which might somehow compensate in a perverse way.

I'm no Armani fan, but to his credit, that is probably the least flattering photo of him I've ever seen. YES, he usually always wears the same color tshirt, but I think he does that so that he can focus on his tan and the fact that he is in pretty amazing shape for a guy who is 475 years old.

Although, I must admit, if they are putting a celebrity designer on the list, I'm amazed that they didn't add Valentino. He always looks pretty impeccable. Even walking the dog, he's decked out. Much better than Armani's black cashmere tshirt. And INFINITELY better than John Galliano, see below (eek).

There were plenty of fashion designers who were very well-dressed.

For example, Jean Desses, Christian Dior, Cristobal Balenciaga, Ossie Clark, Oleg Cassini, Walter Albini just to name a few.

"That's precisely the reason why people who argue about sleeve length, the appropriateness of a color, or whether or not to fasten a particular button will never really "get it."

That's one point of view. I and many other men happen to think that fit and cut are everything. An impeccable navy suit, blue shirt and charcoal necktie looks better than ill-fitting designer wear.

j/k...most of the list was very good.

I like the picture of Ralph Lauren with Bill Bass, too...that's a classic.

David Brown, always impeccably dressed, and a hero of mine, is on the far right of the photograph.

I don't mean to carp, but was he wearing sturgeon's cuffs?
