Unwrinkling a Silk Tie

Do you iron your silk ties? I note Bernhard Roetzel's books caution against ironing ties, saying its not good for the slightly rounded edges, etc. He doesn't particularly care for dry cleaning a tie and calls for one to be particularly fussy in which cleaner they patronize, as do other writers. I've been ironing my ties, though I don't do it that much and notice the worst wrinkles are generally in the knot area that doesn't really show. Lately I've been more conscientious about the length of my ties, so have been doing more double knots which strains the tie more.
I just gave my usual dry cleaner an exemplary, handmade tie I picked up at Kilgour in London - 'couldn't iron most of the wrinkles out so it didn't look up to snuff. How else is someone supposed to get wrinkles out of a high quality tie (e.g. one worth keeping)? Bathroom steaming doesn't work for me, as the shower floor will leak if too much water falls. I've also done the roll around hand thing Roetzel suggests - may work but not usually.

I've gently ironed mine with a thick layer of cotton towel between the two, and I didn't have any problems ironing sharp edges into it. I couldn't notice a difference before or after, except to say, the wrinkles were gone.
