How to knot a tie without the top of the collar band showing?

Something I've been struggling with for years is getting my tie knot so that you can't see any of the collar band above the knot. It seems like lot of men on this forum have mastered this art.

What's the trick? I usually do a four-in-hand knot.
Hard to say without seeing what you’re doing.

Personally when I cinch my tie, I’m aiming for a tightness that makes my tie stick out away from my body. I don’t have any pictures from the side handy but will try and grab one later.
