Hi! I got a great deal on this jacket and really like the pattern and color. I took it to a great tailor and they told me I only needed to lengthen the sleeves and if I wanted to, bring it in a little bit on the back to make it a little more tailored. I wanted to see what you all thought about it? Does it look nice?

I think the sleeves and jacket are both short, but the jacket length is probably not fixable. You seem pretty tall and a short jacket exaggerates it.

I think it would look good, but not with the blue/blue/blue pairing in the photo, it's too monochrome.

thanks! I was worried it was to short. I'll wear a different shirt under it. :)

Crap! I wrote the wrong thing. They are definitely on the short side! But not extreme.
No worries. I agree it's ok the short side (but I'm going to get the sleeves brought out.) Do you think the jacket is horribly short or do you think it works ok? I got this jacket for under $300 and I think this Ted Baker is normally double, or more. I'd like to keep it and th tailor said it's not to short where I can't wear it. What do you think?

Great, thanks! I was thinking I was going to get slaughtered on this site for it being to short.
It is short and a bit tight (see button pulling) which follows the current trends, but most on SF prefer a more classical cut which is longer and fuller (see Permanent Style for example, but of course bespoke). Getting the sleeves right is important because otherwise it will stand out as too short.

I would consider comparing a jacket in a long size before you make your next purchase, I think it could be better, especially as you can shorten a long jacket but not lengthen a short one.

I'm going to get the sleeves lengthened, but do you think the jacket will still be to short as to where it's unwearable? Or do you think it will be wearable once I do that? (As for it bring to tight, I think it's just the pictures, it's not actually to tight.

It would be better if the jacket were about an inch or two longer, in my opinion.
Thanks, I agree. However, do you think it still looks ok (especially after one then the sleeves?) It's not so short that it looks bad / unwearable is it? The tailor and the the suit person at Nordstrom all said it looks nice.

Well, just giving my honest opinion, it’s too short. I wouldn’t wear it. But, this is coming from someone who wears navy suits 90% of the time. I can’t remember the last time I even put on a sport coat.

Regarding the people at Nordstrom - first off they want to make a sale, so of course they’ll say it’s nice. Second, not to sound snobbish but most of these people who work at these department stores know precious little if anything about true men’s style and tailoring. So I wouldn’t trust much of what they say.
