There was a documentary on the history of England he hosted. I'm an Anglo-Saxon and Norse scholar, and that's not on the History Channel's Jesus-Knights Templar-Hitler rota, so when I see something about my area on TV I generally turn it on and drink every time they spout an incorrect "fact".

Long story short, I tune in, and there is Eddie Izzard chasing some farmer around Friesland screaming "IC WILLAN BUGEN ANRE BRUN CU" (I would like to buy a brown cow) in Old English, because Frisian is the closest living language to OE.

The (obviously drunk) farmer is confused as ****, and trying to figure out where Eddie came from, what language he is speaking, and what he is trying to do to his cow.

I enjoyed this greatly.

I don't get why people go on Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents, particularly the Jehovah's Witness last night who took a condom in her bag, got hideously drunk and groped by loads of blokes, surely at least one of her friends must have seen the programme last year and told her that it might be a bad move to allow a film crew on her holiday and you'd think she wouldn't snog every **** there when its going on TV even if she didn't know her parents would be there.

I also don't get why somebody will say they don't get why people watch it.
