Is it me or does this sentence just mean absolutely ******* nothing:

“"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time”

I called the place I was booked to stay the first night, somewhere halfway down the peninsula to get some last minute directions or something.
They said "try real hard to get here before sunset"
"why, vampires?"
"once the sun sets, all the cows tend to lay down on the road for warmth"

Sure enough, I'm getting there just as the sun is setting, and I'm doing a slow, serpentine in the canary yellow mini coop through a sea of road-laying cows.
This is a fact. I've seen evidence of what happens to people who disregard it on more than one occasion.

Kid needs to be kicked out of school, banned from playing sports and arrested!

I do remember all these rickety trucks that were so overloaded that it was impossible to see the road beyond them. The "highway" was just a glorified 2 lane road, often w/ no shoulder. The trucks crept along under 30 mph but you didn't dare risk passing them, so they would put on their left turn signal for you when the the coast was clear - had never seen that before...

Yeah but you road one of "those" busses. It takes some balls to even get on one of things. Those trucks probably picked up that to keep from being run over.
I took a cab once in Mexico. I don't even remember where or why but I was talking to the driver about the secret to driving there. He pantomimed turning down the rear and side view mirrors and said " and don't look anyone in the eye"

Nice to be remembered around here. I haven't been participating much in the forum culture of late. I haven't been haled off to the Old Folks' Home yet although I do find myself getting more bumbly and forgetful with the passing of the years. Will be turning 80 in March...if I make it that far. Still trying to get in a good vigorous workout every day in addition to walking my little retriever *****.

"It takes him more than two whole minutes to be able to stand up, pick up his duvet and walk the distance of about two yards to a door leading to another room. In audio clips released alongside the video by West Midlands Police, played to the court, Arthur is also heard saying 'no one is going to feed me' seven times in 44 seconds."

Some hibbeldy $hit right there!

Not so much the criminal part causing the hibbeldy-jibbeldy, but the fact that she's a 19 year old substitute teacher. She's what, maybe a sophomore in college?

(I'm familiar with Cleveland County- it would not surprise me at all to learn that she's not even in college)

Edit: dammit, filters broke the link.
