Damn, just found out theyre doing a remake- cast looks insane.... so it'll probably be terrible.

I'm a big fan of Denis Villeneuve. If anyone can do it justice...nah, it'll probably be terrible.

I chose a terrible god damned password.

because the windows dialog doesn't actually tell you the rules...
How is this still a thing? Designing or approving a password interface that doesn't tell you the formatting rules should be grounds for instant termination, public shaming, and flogging.

ust have at least one special character, and you can't reuse special characters for a year

like if you use @ once, you can't use it again for the whole year?

wtf? Like, clearly organizations that do this have people whose job it is to make these changes...are those people incapable of finding the research that pretty much unanimously agrees that these stupid rules are not helpful?

edit: bonus question--is a space counted as a special character? because spaces are the best.

Well...at least they added a reminder of the new rules to the email telling you that you have to reset your password soon.

Of course, you can't actually look at that email when you are changing the password since windows does it from the lock screen...and if you have put off your password change until the last day it will force the change on login, so you can't even look at the email first.

We went to a new password policy recently, and I was pulling my hair out trying to find one that I can remember and meets the new requirements: 16 characters, must have at least one special character, and you can't reuse special characters for a year. In the end I called our help desk and they explained the new requirements to me.

I hope like hell that at least they pushed out the time-to-expiration.

That's on top of the multi-level two factor authentication that we have. One of our most critical systems has its own 2-factor autheitcation, so by the time I reach it I've 1) logged into the VPN, entering my 16+ character password and authentication token; 2) logged into the network, with password and token; 3) logged into the critical system with my network password, a fob-generated password, and a token. At that point I'm 6 factors deep and have entered at least 48 characters and 3 tokens, using my keyboard, phone and fob. Even then, they've added a new level of audit trail, so if I make any changes in that system I have to open a related case and submit it for approval.

It's a colossal PITA.
My VPN randomly disconnects in bunches (like 3 times in 5 minutes) and and I have to re-log in &2 factor each time. FML

Yes, if you use @ once, you can't reuse it for a year. Which makes my usual password pattern obsolete. I'm pretty sure that spaces aren't allowed, but I can't say I've tried it.

Unfortunately the people who are responsible for protecting the integrity of our customer data are not the same people who are responsible for making my life easier.

I chose a terrible god damned password.

The password rules changed and it took me several attempts to choose one that works (because the windows dialog doesn't actually tell you the rules...it just tells you that you've broken one). I ended up with something that is hard to type fast...it is committed to muscle memory, but I think I end up holding the shift key for a fraction of a second too long.

I type this thing wrong multiple times a day despite the fact that I have been using it since November.

Due for a change soon...going to have to think more carefully about this.
Do you remember that time you claimed I made up your persona?

Get yourself some of this. It's a traditional herbal remedy for various anxiety related disorders. like work stress. and inability to sleep. or truly chill out and be in the moment.

it's been working great for me. it has curtailed my OCD. and i feel relaxed.
edit: While you may feel well adjusted. and content in general. something like this could help your subconcious to quieten down whilst you sleep.relieving whatever noise is causing you to "fidget" or keep busy in your sleep.

perhaps a local asian pharmacy near you has it?
Didn’t realize you needed so many Kanji characters to spell “conservative business dress”

We just switched to this also. To make things worse you can't have consecutive numbers, also you can't repeat the same password for 4 years.

Complex passwords are easy. Just make up some nonsensical phrase and add some numbers to the end or subed for letters and same with symbols.

So something like
