1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Zambrotta has not been mentioned.
I have read all the football posts and Djibril Cisse's name keeps coming up,I have no idea why.I would not have him in my pub team.He is a joke in England where he has played for the last two years.

Currently watching USA,they have started really well.Convey looks good.

I just like Cisse, that's all. [IMG]

And my brother loves the Drogba. He's a beast in the air.

I don't really care about how "famous" a soccer player is. My FAVORITES are

Ruud Van Nistelrooy (currently of Manchester United/Netherlands national team)

Demarcus Beasley (Chicago Fire/US national team)

    Thierry Henry (Arsenal/France national team)

Pavel Nedved (semi-retired Juventus/ Czech national team)

Doesn't Beasley (aka Run DMB) play for the dutch team PSV Eindhoven?

    Go Liverpool!

The Best in the World i think:
Gerrard over Lampard cause Gerrard showed he is good for club & country.
Gerrard over Ronaldiniho for the same reason. I think players like Lampard and Henry & Ronaldiniho are very very good players but the reason they look so good is that they play in teams that suite their style or (in Henry's case) teams that are built around the star player. Thus the best player should be able to perform to their peak in all circumstances.

I second on Buffon and Dida. I also nominate Stijn Stijnen (what's in a name) from FC Bruges, because that's my favourite team and he played awesome matches last season (remember CL-match against Juventus...)

Also look for Antonio Cassano (assuming he gets fit) to play a dramatically increased role now that Capello is in charge. Don Fabio did a good job taming Cassano @ Roma, and he is a father figure to the troubled Barese...

While were on the subject of the World Cup I wanted to ask some of our avid soccer fans who they believe to be the best all around soccer stars in the world today....

A top five or ten will suffice, just curious as I'm not as familiar with the sport as I'd like to be.

so, those best at being stars? as opposed to the stars who can't hack it, and generally screw up their stardom?

ooh, err, let me think 'bout that one....
