I'm new to raw denim and have yet to buy a pair. I'm currently looking a the APC brand. I like a slim cut, not skin tight, but very slim. Which style would you recommend? New Cures, New Standards or Petit Standards? I also want to know what size to buy? I'm normally a 30 in Levi's 511s, but raw denim stretches out correct? I also have no idea how to wash my denim. I want a color similar to:

NOT

Measurements (when laid flat) taken off of a pair of jeans:

Leg opening: 7
Waist: 15.25
Rise: 10

I'm pretty much in the same situation right now, although I wear 511's in sz. 31. Anyway, I think I'll go with the New Cures. Like you, I don't want skin tight. When properly sized, the NC's are close to skin tight, but they stretch out with wear. If you want something just as slim/even slimmer than the NC in the leg but roomier in the thigh/waist, you might take a look at the Petit Standards. It sounds like you want something slimmer than NS'es.

As far as coloring goes, that really all depends on what kind of wear you put on your jeans.

I'm no expert by any means but the pic of what you say you like looks like jeans that are relatively new and not washed much if at all. The second pic looks like a well worn washed out real comfortable old friend pair of jeans which in my opinion is how it should be.

I think they probably look pretty similar IRL, but the second guy jacked up the contrast on the photo.

Precisely. To me the appeal of raw denim is you start out with them stiff and coy and unfriendly and aloof and as you wear them hard, spill **** on them wash them and whatnot they end up becoming true old friend jeans in every sense of the expression.

Okay so I've decided I'm getting some new cures in a size 27 or 28. I did find some lightly used 27's on ebay. The only problem is that he hemmed them to 30 even though they haven't been washed. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250325398105 What do you guys think?
