Interesting article. Unfortunately I'm allergic to nearly everything 'Victorian'.

I admire the Victorians for their inventiveness and inquiring minds ...but stylistically, the period was a chaotic mess -- for the most part, an eclectic assemblage of past styles set against the industrial revolution.

That's part of the draw, for some of us. Their inventiveness is unparalleled, as well.

I understand that.

Actually, I do quite like some of the Gothic revival stuff the Victorians were so keen on.

That is one of the vibes I got reading that.

I think a lot of people have collected and designed their living spaces like this (well, minus the Ripley's Believe it or Not collection of human/animal remains) for quite some time so I'd put it closer to 5 years behind on this trend, although you and LK have been at it for much longer I'm sure.
I'm not the one with the narwhal phallus or what have you. I prefer collecting books on the Cambridge Five, among other things.

It was a dirty life, by modern standards. Still, someone had to do it.

I don't mind a fondness for a certain era or even collections of objects from the past, but to do everything in one style seems overly thematic and leaves the impression of the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland.

I had to look up Doyle Mueser.

I wonder if any of these folks seeking "authenticity" would join me in the field to kill said animals they like to collect.
