I can see the look you're going for and I think those shoes would work fine.
You did say you would use laces, right?

If you want to wear leather shoes with jeans, go for captoe oxfords or minimal brogue'ing.

I have no use for florsheim shoes except for scrap leather. (And that includes the by DB line)

This is fine, though I have seen brogues work with jeans plenty of times. My subjective opinion is better than yours..!
