There is no magical list of set tailoring costs that all tailors across the US/Canada/World use.

Go ask your local tailor how much the proposed alteration will cost.

If you think it's too expensive, then think about whether or not you really want it done.

End rant.

I had a 3 button, mod style suit made in Johannesburg for 2200 rand, which is like $300. All wool, ticket pocket, and working cuffs. Not bad IMO

I think the OP was just addressing alterations costs. With whole suits commissions though, I think there is a rough guideline of $300-$600 USD for well-done fused suits with multiple fittings, and $900-infinity for full-canvassed... which holds true pretty much worldwide.

why are there multiple replies to this thread? It was made clear that some do not want this issue to be discussed. Respect their wishes and have a discussion about something they find acceptable.

If anyone wants to discuss tailoring costs, they must do it in another forum.

That is all.

Most lay people have no idea of the complexity level of certain alterations. A rough guideline like the one from RL is a useful ally to avoid being taken advantage of.

Agreed, this is an useful initiative for those of us that don't have that much experience.

My tailor is kind enough to charge me only $10 for shirts & pants, and some jacket alterations (like sleeves). Only after he realized he'd make more money off me quicker this way, though
