Hey Styleforum, I'm new and this is my first post. Lots of good info here.

So I always ask this question and always get mixed answers. I'm just curious as to what the community here has to say?

Where should the shoulder seam from a fine gauge sweater fall?

For sweaters I know thick knit, a looser look is acceptable without being sloppy. However a thin knit needs to be more contoured to avoid the sloppy look.

So the story is that I got this great Altea wool sweater that fits the body great, but the shoulder seam is about an inch off the shoulder on each side. Typically I like a clean fitted look, however with this sweater looks clean all around except the shoulders. Sizing down did not work, good on shoulders but too tight on chest. What are your guys thoughts, is a slightly wide shoulder acceptable with a good body fit??? I hope to see some opinions.

Also...would spot shrinking the wool over the shoulders work???

Thanks in advance.

My take is that regardless of what you are wearing shirt, sweater, jacket the shoulder always looks better when shoulder is right on. So yes this does look a little sloppy.

Just wear it, nothing will show after a couple of wearings.

Much ado about absolutely nothing.

I agree it does look a tad sloppy but nothing can't live with. Fit and color have prevailed and it's going to stay. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
