Hello guys,
new member long time viewer of this forum.
Mid-August I am to attend as a single a wedding in the Aegean island of Naxos Greece.
The wedding will take place in the afternoon so we are talking about temperatures of 30-35C.
The wedding is not stated as casual though as I am best friends with the groom he confined to me that there is no chance he wears a tie. He still debates wearing a suit but most likely he will wear one as he goes 24/7 in his business life with a suit. The majority of the guests are in their early to mid thirties.
The reception dinner is going to be held in a really nice location, not on a beach but still out in the open.
My thoughts are to
invest in a new pair of brown church's oxfords which I intend to wear a lot in general

and opt for a nice pair of burberry navy cotton-linen trousers that I already have

and a white Gitman oxford shirt.

What are your opinions on this outfit or is it going to be too formal ?
As I have been for many years away from Home in this wedding I am to meet old cherrissed friends after a really long period as well as a few long-lost loves possibly with their new partners ha ha.
Really look forward for your thoughts.

As someone that has been to a couple of very hot weddings I think your outfit should be spot on. If you want to add a little bit of style to your outfit you could still get a linen sport jacket (don't bother with wool...you will cook alive) .Hope it helps and enjoy the wedding in Greece.

Linen suits are great for summer weddings, with an open collar shirt for a more casual but still smart look. However, only you know what the level of formality will be at the wedding you're attending. Your outfit sounds absolutely fine for a more relaxed event (though I'm not a huge fan of the leather of the shoes in the pic and I would probably personally prefer a lighter-coloured pair of trousers - in the same sort of material - for the reception). Don't worry too much about the clothes though; from what you're describing, anything somewhere in the smart-but-relaxed vein will be fine for guests. Have fun!

I would like to thank you both for your fast and sincere replys.
TomTom the cooking I most definately want to avoid.
Holdfast can you please elaborate a bit on the leather of the shoes.
Does the texture/colour not abide with your personal taste or you think the shoes in general do not fit with the setting (summer/island).
I was opting this pair of church's oxfords as they would most definately fit to my wardrobe in general.
Thanks again.

The leather of the shoes is suspiciously shiny, as though it's corrected grain. Also, the oxford styling doesn't really go with the leather color and the chunky sole.
