I purchased a 42S and 42R suit form Spier and Mackay and was hoping I could get some opinions on the fit. I'm 5'10 but have shorter legs so I thought the S might fit better. These are right out of the box with no tailoring done. Is 42S too short? If I go with the 42R I would definitely have to get the sleeves shortened but 42S sleeves fit well but I'm worried the jacket isn't long enough.
You opinion is appreciated!

I would consider the 'S' to be too short, yes. A properly fitting jacket should completely cover your rear end IMO. Sleeves on the 'R' can be shortened. It looks like there is plenty of room before the buttons to bring the sleeve up.

Agree definitely not the short. Sleeves are easily shortened and sleeve buttons can be moved without difficulty. That being said the jacket looks tight in the chest (lapels are bowing). I’d also try a 44R.

Neither fits well in the chest. The 42S is way too short. The 44 is worth a try, but you need to steel yourself for the possibility that this cut just doesn't work well for you
