Suggestions for replacing an overcoat collar

I picked up this G Vasta overcoat on eBay. It is well made and I like it, but not the collar, which seems an odd match for the coat. Is it possible to replace the collar on a coat like this, and if so, what do you think I should replace it with? I doubt I would be able to find a perfect match for the fabric, so it will likely have to be a contrasting collar of some sort.

Not sure if it would be worth your dollars to replace (nice jacket, but the replacement may cost more than you paid via eBay), but maybe a brown corduroy material would be an appropriate material for the collar.

Risky to change the collar to something you would like.
There is no lapel so styling is limited.
Knit collar is sewn into the coat with no outlets. If you attach the new collar in the same way, no issue.
If you want a collar with a stand and leaf you have to sew in on the top of the cloth. This will make the neck hole larger and the collar may not stand close to the neck. Will be a gap between the collar and your neck.
If a tailor/seamstress has a better/best solution you could get the cloth by shortening the coat. Taking off enough cloth to make the new collar.
No idea if this is a good idea without knowing the length or seeing it on you.
If you proceed to change it the risk is having a Frankenstein coat you're stuck with. If you don't like this as is, sell it as is.
