Here are some more photos to help. I'm mainly concerned with it being possibly too small in the waist.

A bigger pic would help as well as a back pic.

Yes, it's too small in the waist. Possibly a little short, too.

It looks like it's pulling pretty tightly when buttoned. Could be what's causing those crease marks on the back.

OK what do people advice for going forward? Return? Let the jacket out? Seems a shame to give it up considering how well the shoulders fit.

or alternatively, I could try to exchange for a size up. It's a BB 1818 42S Fitzgerald cut. I could possible try for 43S.

You are not a skinny dude. Try the Madison fit, then get the waist taken in if it's too roomy.

The harris tweed herringbone jacket only comes in the Fitzgerald cut, so my options right now are alter, return, or size-up.

So can anyone give advice on fixing the problems in this jacket. Does anyone think letting it out a little will get rid of the ripples that form on the back when buttoned? What about going up a size from 42S to 43S?

You could diet and exercise then the coat would fit better. A month of jogging and situps would probably do it.

Try the 43S and see. I think it will do better for you overall.
