though on that one I would prefer something else like Paraboot if I want casual route

on grain TLB split toe I can see getting one of these (black grain, maybe work with some denim, so basically not very often shoe for me...)

What I meant to say is that the overall profile of TLB is quite well, if I compare them from a distance (so without looking at the details) they look quite as good as the FS, but at a close. distance I would say the details/ finishing is visibly better on the FS.

Considering that another individual will not get close enough to differenitate the two, then that does indeed speak positively about TLB.
In so far as, it can compete from a visual distance to a shoe costing 4.5x as much.

I'm a very very observant individual SO I notice everything. I'm going to point out something no one else picked up on but I did! You are a big fan of EG.

And here I was all proud and ready to beat my chest like a drum because of the condition of my 12 year old Dovers.

I have to admit I am absolutely an Anglophile as well. Heavily influenced and always returning to English styling and lasts. EG, CJ, and AS take the cake for me. Whilst I have other English brands, those three are close to my heart with EG being my favorite Eng. RTW maker.

I don't own any AS, but I really like country stuff from CJ and some of the more in between EG (I think on strict dress shoes side I'm more on the as sleek as possible side, so that makes me French? Though don't own a single French RTW guess it got copied by Japanese then Chinese)

edit: would list GG as well, but their last just doesn't work for me..., AM is an interesting case of "chunky" dress shoes that I like for whatever reason

I really like the look of GG, but I can not in good conscious recommend them due to my poor fit issues. I believe the only way I could wear their shoes would be through Bespoke.

As for not owning any French shoes, how would you arrive at the assumption they are your preferred style? I would suggest get out there and get yourself a few pairs and see how they look on the foot.

As per the previous post, I am definitely influenced by English stylings. Even the Japanese makers I prefer exhibit English characteristics within their offerings ?.

edit: and I can't think of a single French sleek RTW to try, J.M. Weston is kind pricy and not what I'm looking for, and if I can't fit in GG, I definitely can't squeeze in Corthay
