I just read interesting facts about commercial break laws in EU television =)

In TV shows the time between commercial breaks must be > 20 minutes!

In movies showed in TV the commercial break must be > 30 minutes!

The total amount of commercial in movie must be < 12 minutes per hour! But because there can be only 2 breaks in hour they are usually shorter than 12 min/2 = 6 minutes.

For example, in 110 minutes movie only 3 breaks are allowed!

In U.S. there is 4-5 minutes commercial break after every 6 minutes of program, movie or show.

If anyone old enough to remember what Cable TV operators were saying when cable TV was a new thing. You would recall that they were pitching commercial-free TV, cause you dear consumer would pay for it, so : there would be no commercials...

Same BS they touting now about satellite radio.

I gave up watching TV in US long time ago. I have no idea how most people put up with commercials. Last time I saw a TV program it had more commercials than the actual programming. Not to mention that commercials in US are not interesting.
I am just too lazy to get a DVR, I'd rather not watch it at all.

Listen, I'm old enough to remember when commercials were sometimes fun, to watch. Some were grand productions with soaring musical scores, breathtaking scenery, and even a story to tell. The old 'Marlboro' commercials, were stunning. Ann Miller did an extravagant dance number, for Great American Soups. We had the Cold Diggers, a good looking chorus line done up in gold lame. Many more.

I remember watching the ORIGINAL Dick Van Dyke Shows, and The Andy Griffith Shows. They did not include all that many commercials. I know this, because when restored to DVD, the shows include scenes, long forgotten. Vignettes that were excised, due to increased commercial airtime.
