Hi everyone Im Ben.

Im trying to find a stylish smoking jacket or bathrobe to wear around the house and in the dorm romms in college. But, you cant exactly walk into a store and buy a great smoking jacket, so Ive decided to get a custom made one.

My idea for it is that it looks sort of like the robes a chinese emperor would wear. The outside would be silk with a nice pattern on it, and a pocket on the left side of the chest. The inside must be very comfortable so I was thinking of lining it with cashmere. Around the collar it could have a velvet lining, or even an artificial white tiger fur to fit the theme of an emperor's robe. It would go down to just above my knees and have sleeves that go to about my wrist. It would close with a fabric belt like most bathrobes do.

Does anyone have any stylistic suggestions? I dont want the fashion police after me since I just joined this forum and im still relatively clueless.

and, does anyone know how much is a fair price for a tailor to charge for this?

Thanks

Brooks Brothers and Paul Stuart both have fancy smoking jackets for sale. You can even purchase over the internet.

Make sure you get velvet hard-soled slippers too because you cannot complete the looks without them.

Ben--Any idea of what Chinese Emperors used the chest pocket for? Don't forget the silk belt for your phone holster.
