Been looking into different suits for my upcoming medical school interviews, and frankly I haven't found the perfect one yet. I already bought two used suits, one was a 38 Armani Collezioni and the other was a 38 Brooks Brothers.

I know nothing about fashion...I simply wear solid colored t shirts and khaki shorts from Brooks Brothers every single day. I kid you not. However, I am a triathlete...5'10" and 150 lbs. I'd like to get a slim fitting suit to highlight my shoulders and body type, but I don't know what is top notch as far as quality goes.

As far as reference, I wear a 38/40 with a 29-30" waist. No matter what suit, I planned to have it altered to fit me perfectly. The Brooks Brothers (Italian Made) seems to be of good quality, but I can't help to think that the black Armani fits a tiny bit better. If I'm looking for a high quality, slim-fitting yet conservative suit, what is my best bet as far as looks go?

Thanks in advance guys, I certainly appreciate your feedback and look forward to your responses.

ClubbyJones,

You mention in your post you know nothing about fashion. Let's start there; you can change this immediately by investing time in reading through posts on this forum, going to sites that provide articles on men's style (check out www.atailoredsuit.com and visit their style guide), and purchase a book on the subject such as Flusser's Dressing the Man. Within one month you can lay a foundation you'll use for the rest of your life.

My advice on highlighting your body type is to be careful. At your weight and height you are going to look thin in the face and neck. You don't want a suit that makes you look really lanky. You want a suit that makes you look good, but does not attract attention. This is an interview suit, in a field that isn't as liberal as let's say internet marketing for Google. And pay attention to your shirt's collar. If you have a thin face, you want a spread to medium spread collar to offset a gangly look.

Can you post some images so we can help you choose between the two? Have you considered going MTM or bespoke? You just spent 100K+ on an education, why doom your interview trying to save a few hundred?
