Since I'm in Canada..

I know there's no Boxing Day in the states. I'm supposed to be going to NYC on Thursday and I'm just curious to know as to when things generally go on sale in stores in the states? Since in Canada it would be the day after xmas (kind of like your version of thanksgiving weekened actually)...so when do winter collections get marked down over there?

Sorry if this has been covered, I just didnt seem to find a "precise" period of time when stores markdown..since I do know that often all dept stores etc will markdown approximately around the same time.

And if its sometime just passing or happening now, where are some great deals?

I believe south of the border they call "Boxing Week Sales", "After Christmas Sales". And, much like up here, they last until spring stock is in.
