Seriously, though, people here freak out whenever you show them a peacoat that doesn't look like the standard Navy issue / Sterlingwear. Dunno why, but the peacoat is sacred.

Its a John Varvatos peacoat and I posted another thread about it. Its pricey ($1295) but Bloomingdales has it on sale this week for 30% off. I have a couple "traditional" peacoats but I really like the slim cut of this one and I like the detail w/ the extra pockets on the rib area. I think im going to go for it.

and with the riblets (lol), hip pockets + flaps and adjustable cuffs it has 50% more buttons than a normal peacoat--all for the price of a normal peacoat! what a bargain

it's not that it's "non-traditional" as much as "varvatos put a ton of ******* things on it to make it look military-inspired."

Haven't seen it in person, but from my experience their jackets/sportcoats are much more fitted than their other offerings, as well as being of pretty good quality (for the price range). The cord sportcoat I picked up there in Small fitted like a slim 36.
That said if you like it you're probably best off waiting for it to go on sale as it inevitably will.
