Shopping in Rome

In a little over a month, my friends and I are spending a semester abroad in Rome. Due to my recent loss of weight, I went down a size and intend on staying on where I am. As a result, I'll be using my Christmas money to buy some new clothes. So my question is, would it be better to just do shopping here or to experience Rome and look for clothes there? I'm into classic men's clothing and base my style around classic Bond films and people like David Gandy.

Also if anyone has been to Rome and recommends any specific places to shop, I would appreciate it.

In Rome there are a street with all the usual fashion shops, Gucci, Prada etc, but if you are looking for real tailoring, there are some tie shops, tailors etc, this are located around the mansions of the Japan Embassy and so on.

You won´t be dissapointed.

Visited recently and picked up some nice ties and a lovely (RTW) casual shirt from http://www.ilportone.com/home - also does bespoke and MTM if you have the time and inclination, and from the look of the examples in the shop the quality looked good, though obviously I am not sighted as to the fit.

Forgot to say that on the most commercial street, there is boutique of Kiton as well that worths going.

Battistoni on Via dei Condotti is well worth a visit if only because
the store itself is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen . The merchandise
is very high end, naturally,
