for $60 used, good buy? This will be my first watch, just want a pretty solid chronograph I can throw a NATO band on. Open to recommendations.

that's not a bad deal for that watch. Not a bad watch although I'm more of a fan of autos. If it is in good shape I'd definitely pick it up.

Seiko 5s are usually available for a song in Asia and online, but I don't think there's a chronograph model.

That i stil use from time to time. its currently @ 139us$. I dont think that is bad. they have sports/superiors starting @100us$

This may be a marsupialed question but what is different about "automatic" are the watches wound? Sorry I know this is so stupid, I really know nothing about watches

Automatic watches use a mechanism that winds the watch as you move your wrist. Every time you wear your watch, natural movements keep the spring wound tight. Therefore you don't need a battery and you don't have to manually wind the watch.
