I just remember them from a year or two ago when KitonBrioni had them all over his blog; but, in obnoxious colors and huge SCHOTT written all over.

yeah, i vaguely remember seeing some that looked pretty garish.

I just like high-quality but pretty standard looking jackets. The one I'm considering looks like it could be just a bit too much for the ways I'm likely to be wearing it. I'm not trying to pass myself off as a biker or anything like that. Not making any statements of any sort.

Schott claims they invented the whole motorcycle jacket look and that all serious bikers sooner or later end up wearing their jackets when they ride.

But they also make a few models for civilians like me who long ago sold their motorcyles. The model 135 is about as biker-y as I care to look.

Motorcycle jackets is apparently not a look in favor here at SF.

ive been going through this exact issue myself. I posted the other day on it specifically. See http://styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=42251

I have not made any decisions as of yet, but the idea of buying a usa union made schott is something to consider....

you may also want to look at the vason's...

custom is also an option but i dont know anyone who does this....

I inherited a ~30 year old Schott 141 like this. A few observations: it is VERY slim fitting. Im a 40 chest, and this sz. 42 fits ************* w/o the zip-out lining. If it weren't for the action back shoulders, it would be uncomfortable. Instead, it feels great. If you plan to use it as a winter jacket, you will need to size up 2 to layer. I could categorically not wear a sweater under this sz. 42 Schott 141. The leather is diesel as can be. You immediately know the difference between this and a "fashion" or "lifestyle" motorcycle-inspired jacket. I would trust my life to this on open pavement. hardware, zipper-pull, pocektlinings and everything have survived 30 years on the highway like nuthin'. Magnificently well-constructed. I'm actually thinking of parting ways with it, so if you are interested, PM me.

They are really known for their biker style jackets. They do make a flight jacket, and I swear I remember seeing a plain cafe style on ebay one time. You might want to give them an email if you have a jacket style in mind. I spoke with them about a biker style (the project is on hold due to my overall poverty

) and they seemed quite willing to make changes.

Personally I would rate Vanson just slightly ahead of Schott. Vanson is well known in the motorcycle world, especially for their custom work and how well they hold up in wrecks. Of late Vanson seems to have slimmed their line down quite a bit (their old catalog was huge), but they still have a lot of choices. They were closing out some horsehide jackets in models they don't make anymore a few years ago online and I still regret not snagging one.

As for Schott, I don't own one. However, I have checked them out in stores and followed their prices now and again on ebay. Their traditional biker styles seem to have fans. Either those or their flight jackets seem to be the most prevelant on ebay. I won't even mention some of the tacky urban jackets they make.
