Ok all, being totally serious as this is not your normal "Is Saphir Reno the best conditioner" or what should I use to nourish my shoes. This question is much much more specific. There are 2 Renovateurs from Avel. Are they the same?

Avel, the company behind Saphir has several lines: the top, saphir medaille d'or and a less expensive line called beauté du cuir. We've had plenty of threads comparing them; original, fancier formulas versus products for more modern, coated, etc. products. This is not that either.

Saphir medaille d'or: Offers Renovateur in a 75ml fancy jar. In USA it is about $26 incl shipping.

Saphir beauté du cuir: Offers Renovateur in a 50ml jar. In USA, it is about $12-13 incl. shipping.

From Avel's beauté du cuir line website, referenced below...it CLEARLY references the 1925/gold medal Reno formula as well. However, the product is less than half the total cost but 2/3 the size. Are we being RIPPED OFF because we want a fancy square jar???

Summoning somebody from the industry like a Kirby or Nick V who retails this stuff, LOL.

[beauté du cuir]Renovator Shoe Polish
Intended for treated leather, to nourish in depth without marking or altering. The Renovator is a genuine beauty product for smooth leather: leather goods, leather clothes, antique bindings....
In 1925, this neutral shoe polish based on beeswax and mink-oil was awarded the "Gold Medal" in Paris and has been an indispensable product for the greatest makers of fine leather goods ever since.
